A Wonderful Tale
Reviewed: 06-17-20
This is one of the best Lamour books. A fun story of one man's quest to reobtain what was taken from him as a boy. It is full of fun characters, places and events. Some say that Lamour does not go deep enough with his characters, and though at times that may be there is a lot to be sad about being brief enough to not bore your readers. Also, I believe that the information he gives is what the main character would feasibly obtain in the situations presented. Regardless, this book is a fun escape that will leave you happy at the end and possibly wanting more, which I believe is the mark of a good book. Also, John Keating is a phenomenal narrator.

Another great novel from am equally great writer.

Without Remorse is one of Clancy's best novels. In my opinion it is the most action packed of his works, and gives multiple nods to later novels and characters. The story explores the dark underworld of drug trafficking, and the twisted world of espionage. One of the best things about Clancy's style is that he takes you through the thought process of almost all of his characters. This results in a lot less plot holes and loose ends, because you are not left thinking "why did they do that?". Highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good action novel.
I put four stars on the performance because although the reader is clear and easily understood, it is very clear that this is an older recording and the sound quality is not up to modern standards. Such as the other Clancy novels read by Scott Brick.
A general warning: do not listen to or read this book if you have an overactive imagination and a weak stomach. The story is not overly graphic but it gives enough information to paint very dark pictures at certain points. These include torcher, murder and sexual abuse.

Story
The Rough Riders is the story of the First US Volunteer Cavalry, the regiment Theodore Roosevelt led to enduring fame in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. Roosevelt recounts how the regiment was raised from an unusual mixture of hardened Southwestern frontiersmen and privileged Northeastern college graduates and how it trained in Texas before sailing southward through the tropic seas toward the unknown.

A brief look into a war that is all but forgotten.
Reviewed: 02-12-18
This book was written by Theodore Roosevelt, arguably one of the greatest presidents if not one of the greatest men to have ever lived. His writing style is both brief and detailed, finding a balance between the two. It can be a bit hard to follow, as some language is not common to the world anymore. Also, he writes in such a way that you almost feel as though you are dropped into a conversation between himself and a friend in that at times you feel as though you missed bits of conversation and wish you could ask him to repeat himself.
If you are looking for an in depth history book information, this is not the book for you. however, if you enjoy first hand accounts, I would highly suggest this book. Roosevelt's account shows his character. He openly acknowledges where the account falls short and does not possess what he believes to be the most accurate information. This book, although limited, is an excellent starting point for someone who would like to gain a general knowledge of the Rough Riders.

Great Book

This a very worthy sequel to the first book. It is a little bit faster paced, has more twists and turns and is all around a great read.
I will say that the story is VERY different from the movie. So for those of you who have watched the films, if you really liked the second film and think that the book will add further detail to the film don't expect it here. It will add further information but it will be very from from the film plot line.

This is a well written book that finally gives the story of what happened to Asoka between series. It is even read by Ashley Eckstien aka the voice of Asoka in the series. It doesn't tell everything that happened to her in between Clone Wars and Rebels but it does tell how she became fulcrum.

Good Background
Reviewed: 05-20-17
The book definitely worth while. the only drawback for me, was that it just wasn't as exciting as I had hoped it would be. However, given that it was focused on building character background, that makes sense. if you are a star wars fan, this is also a more unique look into the star wars universe. It looks a lot at what daily life on some of the planets might be like.
