Story
For nearly four-hundred years, the Veil has protected us from the Fae of Alfheimr. In their absence, our lives have shifted from decadence and sin to survival and virtue under the guidance of the New Gods. I’ve spent my entire life tending to the gardens next to the boundary between our worlds, drawn to the shimmering magic like a moth to the flame. All of that changes the day the Veil shatters, unleashing the fae upon our world once again.

Not for me.

This story was horribly predictable. And the FMC was beyond frustrating. She was naive and made horrible decisions. The MMC was not desirable and there was no chemistry. I hate to speak so poorly of someone’s work, but this book was awful. There was not one thing I enjoyed. I DNF’d a little over halfway through.

I tried to continue on the series but DNF’d halfway through this book. I enjoyed the idea of the story and some of the unique elements it brought since many books (and titles) feel so copy and paste. This book was just lacking in so many ways for me. The writing was fine. Perhaps I’ve just outgrown YA. While I didn’t hate it, it didn’t evoke any emotion, focus, or anything else for me.

This was one of my favorite books when I read YA. Now, as an adult I still enjoy it. Though I wish it was a bit longer so there was more time to build the character relationships.

I LOVE this series. I hate to say it but I had a really hard time getting through this book. There was WAY too much sex for me. I like a little spice but I feel as though this book could have had a few more fade to black scenes. I want a little more story than spice.. I didn’t get that.

Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

Weakest Book
Reviewed: 04-15-22
For me, this book didn’t pack nearly the same punch or satisfy as the others in this series. I was a bit disappointed overall. Still far better than many other books but I found a lot of issues with the dramatic change in characters/their relationship or lack thereof in changes. I felt like there were several lines or themes that were a bit overly repeated throughout. There were many parts of the plot that were rushed through. For the first time in this series there were a few moments here and there where my attention started to drift. As for the narrators- I LOVE LOVE the females rendition of Cas. It was a bit shocking to hear the male narrator at first but I wholly agree with bringing in a male for his POV. While he did a great job, his tone/feeling wasn’t quite what I would have chosen.
