plot holes, plot armor, and a cliff hanger
Reviewed: 09-19-22
slow burn is cool when done right. This story doesn't do it well. in the first half it was good, the slow burn was building and worth it. But then half way through you have the FMC lying for no reason. There was genuinely no reasoning for the FMC to go along with her families lies at all. especially since he, the MC, had already established that he originally wanted to marry the FMC.
like I'm good with drama, but not imaginary drama, used to create length to a book that ends on a cliff hanger. you added 5 hours to a book that weren't needed.
also the female lead is written inconsistently, one sec, in the beginning she's wise and loving enough to make the hard decision for him and his people in regards to her father. the next, she's cowering before everyone at the drop of a dime mid and end of the book.
save your money on this one and possibly your credit too.

Story
There's no way I'm letting this alien who calls me his Xiveri mate claim me as his. He hasn't hurt me, and he might say the right things, but his kind has already taken too much from me. Trapped now on his harsh snow-consumed planet waiting to be hunted, with no way of escape, I'll do the only thing I can. The one thing I've been training for since the aliens first came to the human moon colony to hurt us. I'll fight.

her story fit her personality and so did her mate in my opinion.
again the narration style is something I love and believe that the actors were perfectly caste.

Story
I'm trapped on a harsh, snow-covered planet waiting to be hunted, with no way of escape. I know that the alien warrior chief with purple skin and a cutting tail is coming for me, but I've got no intention of letting him take me. I'll fight him with hands and fists, knives and teeth. I'll fight the rising heat between us. I'll fight the ache in my chest where an empty hole beats, serving as a painful reminder that once, before his kind took from me, I had a heart. It’s a heart that the warrior thinks is his. And unfortunately, he's unafraid to fight for what he wants.

Story
The Voraxian king has come again—and this time, he's come for me. I've got no desire to be claimed by the alien king. Blue skin, seven feet, and strapped with muscle, I've seen what his kind does to humans. And I don't care that he watches me with hunger.

it is very hard to find a sci-fi romance with a black woman as the mc and even harder to find one that is well written. needless to say I'm bing reading/listening to this series of books.
the narration style ruined me. the voice actors were perfect in their roles and the fact that the male lead read all the male parts and the story didn't have the female lead trying to change her voice to mimic a males has set a standard high for my audiobook experience lol.
over all great book in this genre 👌

Story
Miari: Blue skin. Seven feet. Strapped with corded muscle, the aliens have come again but this time, their king is here and he's watching me with hunger. A hybrid with red alien skin and brown human eyes, I've got no family and am not desired by colony men. I'm an inventor, a mechanic, a tinkerer. The alien king seeks to claim me, but he'll have to find me first. Our little colony is a scary, desperate place and I'm willing to meet it head on if it means escaping him and the alien sensations he stirs deep in my gut, where light and truth cannot touch them.

Story
In the future: A united Earth, to deal with the problem of population control, divides its population into classes of citizen and non-gratis. To be born a non-gratis means a life of little freedoms and the constant possibility of being assigned to work on a colony. Lacking citizenship, every aspect of their life is controlled from where they live down to marriage and childbearing regulations. The only possible escape from life as a non-gratis is to qualify for one of the limited slots available for entrance into the military.

Story
My life has never been easy. I’ve had my fair share of pain - every moment is a fight to survive. With my brother on his deathbed, it’s up to me to provide and protect what’s left of my broken family. I do things I never thought I’d be capable of, becoming a person so hardened to the world that when I look in the mirror, all I see is a stranger. When a twist of fate lands me at rock bottom, I make the ultimate decision and give away the only thing I have left - my freedom. I belong to them now…the Beast. The Brains. The Bastard.

female lead is too stupid to be believed
Reviewed: 03-13-22
The female lead is too incompetent for me to finish the first few chapters. its like they didn't know how to write a believe. its like they were confused about how to make her character. she keeps talking about how she's more than just a pretty face and then does so strait up stupid stuff. like who the heck works for a fence dore years, doing multiple jobs, but doesn't get suspicious when said fence asks you to steal a brand new jewelry set on the first day, with no additional resources for 10g's. Given the world that their saying she has to live in, seedy under belly, she is too stupid to believe. I dont believe her character would survive in that world at all ever. don't waste your credit on this one man.
