Story
Life can kick us when we are down. In Shawn Speakman's case, he is fighting back. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2011, Speakman beat the disease as well as the massive medical debt he amassed from its treatment. He did this by publishing Unfettered, an anthology featuring short stories donated by some of the best science fiction and fantasy writers working today. Speakman has again collaborated with celebrated genre authors to publish Unfettered II.

A few stories detracted from the entire collection

Many of the short stories were amazing. Unfortunately a few of them were too detailed in their description of sex scenes. I did not purchase this book for graphic details. If language and slightly explicit scenes do not make you uncomfortable then you might really enjoy the stories.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
The story starts out with a girl who has stolen something. She is obviously poor and so the language may portray a good description of the character. I just was not invested in the story to put up with the language.

I had hoped for a story of young Artemis. This is a telling of where he got the idea for the character Artemis. This story is not worth paying for. Maybe fun to learn but not even a real short story.

Story
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Great little read.

Although many have said it was too short and needs more I feel it was a perfect length. The plot was fun as you watch the dispatcher try and explain to others his profession. Character development was done well for such a short story. I don't see this going any where as a story line but using these characters in a different story or something like it could be a fun premise. This story line tidied up nicely.

Cute light hearted story.

I was excited to find a mystery story without sex or murder. This is a cute story but the characters were very one sided. Amelia is a very naive PI and Rick is a rather soft "bad boy". But I loved how clean it was. It was a fun story that I would say would be great for 13-14 year olds.

The narrator was ok and the story line entertaining. What I liked the best was the character traits of the main characters. They were never one sided.
