Story
After being gone for two decades, Maddy’s half sister, Emily, is back in town to settle their late father’s estate. Emily’s not the troubled girl Maddy remembers from their volatile childhood. Apparently, all is well. It can’t possibly matter anymore that Maddy married Emily’s first love, but the pictures Maddy finds on her husband’s phone tell a different story. Suspicions of an affair are hard to ignore.

I very much enjoyed this book…until the ending. Nothing like hurry up and leave lose ends every where. Disappointed!

Story
American journalist Rose Kynaston has just relocated to the childhood home of her husband, Dylan, in the English village of his youth. There’s a lot for Rose to get used to in Hurtwood. Like the family’s crumbling mansion, inhabited by Dylan’s reclusive mother, and the treacherous hill it sits upon, a place of both sinister folklore and present dangers. Then there are the unwelcoming villagers, who only whisper the name Kynaston - like some dreadful secret, a curse. Everyone knows what happened at Hurtwood House twenty years ago. Everyone except Rose.

I ended up giving up on this one. The narration was dull and the story took too long to get moving.

The ending sucked! It was great until then. I enjoyed the story, how it built and the guessing of the twists! But the ending seemed a bit buttoned up.
