Amazing narrators!

I think these narrators are my new favorites!!

“And then she smiles, bright and big like the night sky hanging above us. I fear she could rival the stars.”

“Pretend.”

“Always trying to get me naked aren’t you darlin?”

“Don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like I’m worthy of being seen.”

“Dance with me?”
“For however long you want, darlin.”

Please don’t make me suffer second book syndrome.

Ok, this was as second-book-ish as I was expecting, but based on what little happened, I’m guessing this could’ve been a duology and not a trilogy.

This entire book is essentially them pretending not to hate each other while actually not hating each other while definitely trying to act like they hate each other and failing miserably.

Paedyn peeing in the forest made me lol though 😂

The poppy scene was really sweet too.
“So if even a sliver of your soul longs for mine, I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to deserve it.”

I loved this! There was a lot to absorb in the beginning, but I caught on eventually. The characters, the magic system, wonderful, the last 10% had me freaking out. An amazing debut, can’t WAIT to have my hands on the next one!

As with the first book, the female narrator has a whisper-talk quality about her that’s mildly grating, but she has such a pleasant voice otherwise. The part that really gets me is that she pronounces Rhys (which is traditionally pronounced Reece) as reez and I just can’t. The male narrator says it correctly thank goodness.

Interesting story, fast-paced, had a lot going for it. While i really enjoyed the male narrator, the female narrator whisper-talks through most of it. I can see the use of such a voice if the story called for it, but most of the narration by her is whispered and it definitely wasn’t my favorite narration because of that.

Not a bully romance

There’s a difference between a bully romance and just straight bullying. I went online to spoil relationships so I could figure out who ends up with who, and I just can’t continue. These actions are not forgivable in my eyes, and how we move from literal bullying and attempted unaliving in the 1st degree to love is beyond me. Absolutely not. The writing was fine and the concept of the supernaturals all being types of fae was really interesting, but I won’t be continuing.
