Great Story but Terrible Narration
Reviewed: 10-11-23
The story was excellent; a good mix of action, lore, and sexy fun. However, the narrator totally ruined the experience. It was obvious that the narrator was just reading the book for the first time. There was no attention to the cadence of dialog which made it very hard to keep track of who was speaking and what was happening.

Story
Milton may have once been a mild-mannered delivery driver, but now, he is one of the top agents in a magical fae guild with blood magic at his very fingertips and a team of gorgeous, badass faerie women around him. Everything is looking perfect, until a new crime wave starts in Jefferson City. Some evil bastards have started to kidnap innocent baby magical creatures. That's bad, but these creatures could be powerful enough to take down the city and the Seelie Court, so that’s even worse.

Terrible Audio Glitches
Reviewed: 05-02-20
As another reviewer mentioned, the current version of this recording has a lot of audio glitches in the form of skipping. It is bad enough that in many cases I was left confused about what was happening in the story. The issues are present in both the low and high quality copies currently on the Audible server (I have tried them both several times including just before writing this review at 10pm MDT 5/1/2020).
I contacted Audible's support team twice about the issues. The first time assured me they had fixed the problems (which they obviously haven't) and they never responded to me the second time.
I highly recommend waiting to get this book until the audio problems are fixed. Maybe if the money stops rolling in they will actually take the time to post a non-corrupted version of the recording.
Aside from the crippling audio issues the story and performances have been great so far. If they fix the audio glitches I will definitely update my review to five stars.

Story
Terrence Mack was born poor, grew up tough, and died hard. Waking up in a sea cave with nothing but the clothes on his back and a new bullet scar was enough to convince him that wherever his death had brought him, it wasn't paradise. His new world quickly proves to be a place of danger, magic, monsters, and - for Terry at least - women. Known on Celestine as a template, Terry's genes are key to the survival of the eldritch races. But the fiercely competitive eldritch don't typically leave their lovers alive long, and aren't accustomed to taking 'no' for an answer.

Story
All it takes is a single brush with the supernatural to change a life forever. Some choose the path of magic and shadow willingly. Others never see the hand of magic as it shapes their fortunes. They face the extraordinary with nothing but courage and wits to guide them. Some mortals become trapped in the conflict between angels and demons and find themselves forever changed. For all too many, the shadows lead only to untimely ends.

Fun and Enlightening
Reviewed: 01-23-19
Overall this was an entertaining look at the backstories of several characters who so far only had minor roles in the main storyline of the series.Hopefully the additional characters will find their way into future books with larger roles. The only issue I noticed is the reversal of voice style for Molly and Onyx which other reviewers have mentioned. I did not expect it to be as noticeable as it actually is. Hopefully the publisher will release a second edition at some point with those portions of the dialogue re-recorded to address the issue.
