The Jesus Storybook Bible is very different from every other kids’ Bibles. While other kids’ Bibles contain stories from the Old and New Testaments, The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the Story beneath all the stories in the Bible, pointing to Jesus as our Savior.

Narration was an insurmountable obstacle
Reviewed: 03-23-16
I was barely able to complete the book as the narration for me was torturous. It felt like a voice and inflection suited to a middle school girls type of genre. When you find yourself focusing on how distracting the narration is instead of the actual plot and dialogue that is not a good sign. I would have loved listening to this with a narrator like Roger Mueller. With his reading you lose yourself in the story. The plot was decent but dialogue was weak and often silly & sappy.

Love the storyline. Combines an old fashioned simple charm with some mystery and mild suspense. I really enjoy the character development and ethical questions raised. Narrator is good but in some areas distracting with the tone of her voice. Not my fav but most my least fav either.

What did the writer of Genesis mean by "the first day"? Is it a literal week or a series of time periods? If I believe that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, am I denying the authority of Scripture? In response to the continuing controversy over the interpretation of the creation narrative in Genesis, John Lennox proposes a succinct method of reading and interpreting the first chapters of Genesis without discounting either science or Scripture.

Extremely Informative, Narrator Hard to Listen To

Would you listen to Seven Days That Divide the World again? Why?
Love this book. John Lennox is very informative and I appreciate his insights and overview of the issue. It's making me think through what I've believed and how to critically analyze scientific discovery in conjunction with Biblical revelation.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Patrick Lawlor?
Frank Muller. I had to turn this book off the first time I tried to listen as I found Patrick Lawlor so difficult to listen to. It was so off-putting that I couldn't proceed. After awhile, my fascination with hearing the content superseded my frustration with the narrator's voice, and I am enjoying the content immensely. However, I do not care for his style of narrating.

Absolutely Amazing
Reviewed: 02-18-14
What made the experience of listening to Return to Me the most enjoyable?
Lynn Austin's historical Biblical fiction has a way of bringing the Biblical history and prophecy narratives to life. So many things I've read and just passed by are contextualized in a way that makes me want to re-read and get a more full bodied grasp of the story lines. This narrator is one of my all-time favorites. Just an absolute pleasure on all levels.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Zechariah. Just understanding the process of a young boy being called to become a priest and prophet and following this progression, imagining what that would have been like, makes it so much more tangible and accessible to my spirit.
What about Suzanne Toren’s performance did you like?
The incredible inflection and tone of her voice, excellent ability to sound like various characters and so lovely to the ear. She enhances the reading of the book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Almost weeping with joy and amazement over the victories God brings after such harrowing challenges.

Life changing biography
Reviewed: 05-23-13
What made the experience of listening to Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret the most enjoyable?
The story of Hudson's spiritual journey is life changing and profound. It is spiritually stimulating, inspiring, and deeply instructive and challenging. His secret of total surrender to God is one I have found similar expressions of in the biographies of Oswald Chambers, Henrietta Mears, & Eric Liddell. Very worth listening to and one I will return to over and over again.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secret?
the moment when he decided to give up his way of life and dress and to completely immerse into Chinese (uncomfortable) dress and way of life. Also, the realization that he could never handle life without complete surrender to God and by faith, living in the power of His Spirit.
Which character – as performed by Raymond Todd – was your favorite?
Hudson

Any additional comments?
Perfect for a vacation, easy listening, intriguing story to listen to and let your mind rest. The narrator was really hard for me to listen to though. Her accents were so bad as to be distracting and especially her rendition of Jackson, the little boy - really really bad. Loved the storyline and plot was engaging. Wish they screened the narrators better.
