This is a great story. The murder mystery itself is a bit convoluted but it's no different than some of the stories of things that happen today that have folks shaking there head. The author has done a great job developing characters, relationships, and giving the reader a good slice of life for the time and location. Very enjoyable.

I saw the movie when it came out and enjoyed it so I thought I'd give the book a try.
This was so lushly written that you could nearly smell and taste everything. I loved the narrator he did a great job bringing everything to life.

Difficult choices will need to be made, and in the end those who laugh last do so because they are the only ones to survive.

If you love Royce and Hadrian this short is a great little bite. It's just enough to get you through a lunch hour that could be very boring otherwise.

Slow start but hang on for the ride!
Reviewed: 11-19-15
I love everything I've read by Jim Butcher so far and this was no exception. I had read from a previous reviewer that they had a bit of a hard time getting into the story and I have to say I did also. Generally, a slow start is usually a death knell for a book I'm reading, but seeing that warning, along with just flat out wanting to see what Jim was going to do with this world kept me pushing forward and I'm glad I kept going. This ended up being very entertaining, amusing and a total thrill ride. I have a bad habit of turning on a book to lull me back to sleep if my husband accidently wakes me when he leaves in the middle of the night for work but I couldnt do that with this book because I was far too interested in what the heck was goingto happen next.
Can hardly wait for the next installment!!

Loved this. As usual I learned a little something, was totally engrossed and wanted more. I was a little sad that there wasn't more interactions with the Sentinel and I wanted a little more explanation as to why Verity could sense but it was still a great story.
