Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

The Book to bind them all
Reviewed: 04-02-25
over the past 10 years I have gathered a reasonably large collection of fantasy titles from Audible. Most of them I enjoy and listen to again every so often. With this series from Terry Mancour I have become addicted no less. Since book 4 each time a new release comes out I start back with book one and re-listen to the whole series. Never have I enjoyed any collection as I do this one. Awesome book, awesome series. Even if you find some issue with one of the books in this series you will be hard pressed to find anything with such an ever growing plot, cast of characters and with a narrator as well read and talented as John Lee. Enjoy

Opposites attack! When the Magelord Minalan the Spellmonger’s two apprentices, Tyndal and Rondal, were knighted after the battle of Timberwatch, they were dubbed Knights Magi: A new class of nobility for distinguished High Magi. Designed to combine the pursuit of arcane knowledge with the noble aspirations of chivalry, it elevated them above common warmage...in theory. The problem was they had no idea how to be a Knight Mage...because no one had ever been one before.

I have enjoyed the SpellMonger series since its inception and love all of the books in this most exquisite series. I have over 400 audible books and have read my entire life. This series is well written with excellent character development, story depth, and scope. This series and its author are worthy to be mentioned with Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones... Enjoy!!

Story
The survivors have come to settle in the mountains of Wyoming, fighting day in and day out to establish a home for themselves in a near-empty world. Things are good at first; scavenging is a workable, short-term solution that seems to be providing all they need. But they know that it’s only a matter of time before the food runs out. They need to scramble to find a sustainable solution before the clock stops, and for a little handful of people up in the mountains, the odds don’t seem very favorable.

Story
When a reclusive market gardener's death proves to stem from a 20-year-old bullet wound, Lieutenant Joe Gunther is presented with a very cold homicide to solve. But who was the victim exactly? A deeply private man eking out an ascetic existence from a hardscrabble mountain field, Abraham Fuller was virtually unknown to his neighbors, in the manner of someone pursuing more than mere solitude. The discovery of a bag full of unmarked bills and a body buried in the garden patch suggests that Fuller had motives beyond misanthropy.

I love the series. It's easy to follow, keeps you guessing and as a native Vermonter, i can say that Mayer nails the Vermont culture and geography. I'd love to see Netflix put it in a miniseries.
