Story
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Vulgar and crude!
Reviewed: 04-20-23
Do yourself a favor and listen to Jan Karon. I'm listening to audios for relaxation and for a bit of sanity. With this "story", I'm listening to a graphic rape scene with vulgar language. Listener beware.

Story
Andrew Thale is not exactly thrilled when his overbearing father sends him on an errand to assess the property inherited from an eccentric aunt. Andrew is intrigued though, when he finds the house fully occupied. Its odd and interesting residents have a calming effect on him, especially the beautiful young woman named Tarragon. But his arrival seems to have set a series of mysterious events into motion. Narrator John McDonough’s engaging performance lets you share in the excitement and camaraderie.

Story
Margot Cary has spent her life immersed in everything Lake Sackett is not. As an elite event planner, Margot's rubbed elbows with the cream of Chicago society and made elegance and glamour her business. She's riding high until one event goes tragically, spectacularly wrong. Now she's blackballed by the gala set and in dire need of a fresh start - and apparently the McCreadys are in need of an event planner with a tarnished reputation.

Story was a bit lacking. Unless you are a super fan of Molly Harpers, you may want to skip this. Simplistic and only mildly funny. Performance was a bit exaggerated.

I was looking something as charming as the Mitford series and almost gave up until someone had recommended this to me. Flawless in story, characters and narration. I am getting next in series immediately after this review. Dorothy Gilman is a gifted writer and Barbara Rosenblat brought Mrs. Halifax to life! Onto the next adventure!

Story
Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership. Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer, and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open.

Endearing main character!
Reviewed: 08-10-20
It was a bit slow in the beginning but glad I hung in there. It was also a bit frustrating, at times, to listen to the main character frequently be at a loss for words and wishing better ones were written for her to say. She is a "genius" and "brilliant lawyer" but doesn't have a backbone when you want her to have one most. She does have her moments, which are satisfying, but there are far too many where she appears clueless, baffled and voiceless. That being said, Samantha was endearing.

Lost its spark halfway through.
Reviewed: 05-12-20
I really enjoyed this story until around halfway through and it lost its spark. The narrator also could have made the voice of the child less loud. It was distracting and a bit annoying. I was really hoping for a story that was the same caliber as The Bookshop on the Corner and sadly it wasn’t. This also reminded me of Bridget Jones's Diary but without the humor. This book could have been so much better.

Whodunit that was disappointingly predictable!
Reviewed: 04-25-18
Would you try another book from Jenn McKinlay and/or Susan Boyce?
Probably not.
What was most disappointing about Jenn McKinlay’s story?
I was really enjoying the book until a certain character was introduced and mannerism were so over-the-top, it was very easy to predict who the killer was. I was hoping to have found a light, but well written mystery, until it was obvious who the murderer was.
Was Sprinkle with Murder worth the listening time?
Yes, up until I easily figured out who the murderer was and it ruined the whole story for me.
