Story
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Renowned as much for her wit and satirical social commentary as for her stories of love and romance, Jane Austen remains unfailingly relevant and one of Britain’s best loved authors. In this Audible Original collection, an all-star list of narrators (Billie Piper, Claire Foy, Emma Thompson, Florence Pugh and Gugu Mbatha-Raw) capture Austen’s pin-sharp humour and tone in these dramatisations of her six beloved novels accompanied by a full cast.

What a wonderful presentation of Jane Austen’s work….so much better than all by one or even a few readers. Many of voices sounded like those in my own head when I read her works for myself. Well done Audible.

Story
Amber Marie Sterlington, the rage of the season in Regency-era London, has her pick of men, and she knows what she wants most in a husband: a title and a fortune. Why would she ever marry for something as fickle as love? And why would she ever look twice at Thomas Richards, a third son of a country lord? But when Amber's social standing is threatened, the character of her future husband becomes far more important than his position.

Empathy rather than sympathy
Reviewed: 04-09-24
Thank you for highlighting the feelings one usually deals when suddenly faced with a major change in appearance, especially a condition one has no chance of healing. The empathy rather than sympathy that helps the lead female to deal with change is heartening. Thank you on for the information at the end of the reading. Spot on!

Chances and changes
Reviewed: 04-03-24
Well, Ms Josie, you certainly wrote an outstanding romance about taking chances and accepting changes. Uncle Elliott may be the instigator of these opportunities for change but you’ve really crafted a family that has grown in more ways than one might imagine. Thank you for this novel and the people who were so very different and yet so similar. It is an encouragement for us who have some of the same awkwardness as we move forward in our own lives.

Personal Redemption
Reviewed: 12-16-23
Each ‘link’ in the chain of this series has had at least one character with personal issues that might have kept them in a life-long existence outside the bounds of polite society, Whether that was within their own minds or noted by their treatment by others made their stories more interesting than usual. Discovering that Lord Neal (so?) had more than a few redeeming qualities made this sequel more than interesting. Thanks for wrapping it up with such characters and events and continuing to include former personalities. Always a treat yo read one of Ms Britton’s novels. Wonderful narrator that keeps the pace and tone just right, too.

The theme of romance is well-supported by the interests of the main characters. Strong storyline with interesting characters beyond the two primary ones. Wonderful narrator who keeps a good pace and makes the characters individually recognizable thru her voice but without drawing attention away from the story. I look forward to the sequels!
