Story
Tom Standage's fleet-footed and surprising global histories have delighted fans and sold hundreds of thousands of copies. Now, he returns with a provocative account of an overlooked form of technology - personal transportation - and explores how it has shaped societies and cultures over millennia. Beginning around 3,500 BCE with the wheel - a device that didn't catch on until a couple thousand years after its invention - Standage zips through the eras of horsepower, trains, and bicycles, revealing how each successive mode of transit embedded itself in the world we live in.

Great content

The content is terrific but alas the diction is monotonous. Will have to follow up with the physical book.

Story
Khalil Rafati went to Los Angeles in the 1990s and had it all. He was working with Hollywood movie stars and legendary rock musicians, but it wasn't long before he found his way into the dark underbelly of the City of Angels. When he hit rock bottom-addicted to heroin and cocaine, overtaken by paranoia and psychosis, written off by his friends and family - he grabbed a shovel and kept digging. So how does someone with nothing, who feels like they deserve nothing, and who just wants to end it all turn their life around?

Beautiful book - love God above all else

Saw this book when I went to buy daughter and her friend a smoothie. I saw the book on a display shelf and was drawn to it immediately. I read slow, so got the audible version. Read by Khalil himself, the narration was spot on and just as I had imagined, it took through the life of a man who hit rock bottom and rebuilt his life!
Kudos to Khalil for continuing to help others and selling great stuff! God bless.
