I will listen to this book over and over. the messages and lessons of this are so powerful amid are such a change from how I currently comminicate it's a lot to take in. I do going myself alone to use small bits already, and I'm much more compassionate when I previously would have felt attacked. next time I listen I'm taking notes so I can better apply the lessons. Marshall narrating his own book flowed beautifully as you can hear the belief he has in this method as he reads. if just 1/4 of the population would listen to this we would live in an entirely different world.

Story
Suicide is the single biggest killer of men aged 20-45 in the UK. Depression and undiagnosed mental illness are huge contributors to these deaths, as they're often more difficult to diagnose in men. And those men don't tend to talk about the typical symptoms or visit their doctors. Meet Tim. For nearly a decade, he kept his depression secret; it made him feel so weak and shameful, he thought it would destroy his whole life if anyone found out. And Tim is not alone.

as as american female my personal experience with depression was different from the writers. I had more support and no real worry of the stigma men face, yet my feelings and recovery were similar. I listened so I could gather the strength to help a loved one, and I'm hoping he gives this a listen.

What made the experience of listening to How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It the most enjoyable?
I found most everything this book talked about to be true to my situation. There are lots of generalizations about the how the sexes behave in relationships, but it really helped me understand why my husband acts the way he does from time to time.
How could the performance have been better?
The ONLY bad part about this book is the voice actor/reader... her voice was, grating? There are many anecdotal conversations between men and woman and the actress would change her voice depending on if a male or female were speaking and it was annoying and even a little degrading.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Way too long to listen to in one sitting, and it was best to listen to a chapter then put it to use.
