Story
Shortly after Thomas Marlowe's arrival in Williamsburg, Virginia, all in that newfound capital city are speaking his name. With the bounty from his years as a pirate—a life he intends to renounce and keep forever secret—he purchases a fine plantation from a striking young widow, and soon after kills the favorite son of one of Virginia's most powerful clans while defending her honor. But it is a daring feat of remarkable cunning that truly sets local tongues wagging: a stunning move that wins Marlowe command of Plymouth Prize, the colony's decrepit guardship.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Story
The year is 1703, and Matthew Corbett, professional "problem solver", is missing. Last seen by his friends in New York before he departed on a lucrative, seemingly straightforward mission for the Herrald Agency in Charles Town, he's been too long absent. His comrade-in-arms Hudson Greathouse has an increasing sense the young friend he thinks of as a son must have met with some unexpected peril.

Great narrative and contains a lot of history. I listened just prior to my first trip to the UK. It really opened my eyes to some new facts. Understanding that this was not the intent of the author, it would have been nice to have a little more character expansion.

The story is tiresome and very clichéd in content and predictability. The characters are all very unbelievable and way too ready to do the "right" thing. Waste of time.

Where does A Dance with Dragons rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Within the Fire and Ice books, this is probably in the middle of the five books I've listed to. As far as all of my audiobooks, I would rank it in the upper 25%
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Dance with Dragons?
Another major character "bites the dust". Almost as hard to take as the "red wedding"
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrator makes everyone sound like their about 70 years old and the women, especially Dany, sound like an old man. I would recommend that he have someone else read the female parts, at least.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No

What did you love best about A Storm of Swords?
The unexpected twists and turns just keep coming. Just when you decide it's getting a little tedious, something momentous happens.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Storm of Swords?
Too many to name here and I don't want to ruin it for anyone else
What about Roy Dotrice’s performance did you like?
Very good! The only criticism is he makes everyone sound older than they really are in the book.
