Good story but too much filling
Reviewed: 01-06-25
Good reviews brought me to this book which I thought would be about a tragic event and transformation. And it was but stuffed with so much other filling that I wanted to end book early many times. It could have been half the length honestly.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
In this deeply scary and intensely unnerving debut novel, Jake and a woman known only as "The Girlfriend" are on a drive to visit his parents at their secluded farm. But when Jake leaves "The Girlfriend" stranded at an abandoned high school, what follows is a twisted unraveling of the darkest unease, an exploration into psychological frailty, and an ending as suspenseful as The Usual Suspects and as haunting as Misery.

I had heard rave reviews about this story and audiobook. I had a hard time with the long conversations and story to nowhere. The ‘twist’ ending did nothing to ease my pain. The narrator was as boring as the story. Would not recommend.

Story
When Desert Solitaire was first published in 1968, it became the focus of a nationwide cult. Rude and sensitive. Thought-provoking and mystical. Angry and loving. Both Abbey and this book are all of these and more. Here, the legendary author of The Monkey Wrench Gang, Abbey's Road and many other critically acclaimed books vividly captures the essence of his life during three seasons as a park ranger in southeastern Utah.

Months earlier, Martha documented the details of an alleged rape committed by two of the town’s most respected gentlemen—one of whom has now been found dead in the ice.

Romance novel on steroids
Reviewed: 01-31-24
This book has great reviews, so I thought I couldn’t go wrong. The main character is unlikable and incredulous about everything. The story is okay with holes. Like, why would she push so hard for murder knowing her son was possibly involved? I fast forwarded thru too many parts that were over descriptive. All in all I would not recommend for audible.

Small town love story
Reviewed: 06-28-23
There was almost nothing I didn’t guess was coming around the next bend in this girl goes back to her small town story. She was mad all the time, which was annoying. Also ladies- always read documents from a lawyer yourself and don’t rely on a man to do it for you! That was not a romantic gesture.
