Story
At 17, Layla Weston is already starting over. Having lost both her parents and grandparents, and with nowhere else to go, Layla is moving from Florida to a small town in North Carolina to live with the only family she has left: her estranged uncle and aunt. The last five years of Layla's life were spent appeasing her less-than-loving grandmother, followed by being her grandfather's caretaker. Growing old before her time, Layla lost her identity. Now she must learn how to allow herself to be the one cared for and loved.

Great Narrator

Where does The Complete Lake Series rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Middle of the road. I truly enjoyed Em Eldridge (Narrator); she does a great job of bringing each character to life.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Complete Lake Series?
Not sure I can say that without spoilers. The dock moments are always memorable though.
Which character – as performed by Em Eldridge – was your favorite?
Tyler was by far my favorite character, even with his limited appearances.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was far too long to consider in one sitting, but I listened as often as I could until it was complete.
Any additional comments?
It is a story about loss, greed, selfishness and finding love and keeping it regardless of the circumstances. I enjoyed the story but I am a bit conflicted about writing the review. The plot was interesting but I felt like it was sometimes predictable and rushed. I wanted to root for the characters and at the same time I wanted to scream at them.
