Its everything you want from Andy Weir, in many parts it's better than the Martian. The ending is good but was it satisfying, did he nail it. I give it a 8 out of 10 on that. It didn't leave be glibly smilingly like The Martian, it left me thinking, "That was cool but." Would I read it again and again like I did the Martian, it's damn close the ending however will always be that 8 out of 10.

The book was a little procedural and predictable as it went on... Yet still a fun story with fun characters.

Puts nearly all modern Fantasy to shame

A long compelling story with a relatable (mostly) protagonist, and a rich and colorful ensemble. A story for all ages and has no need for sex and violence to sell it. Nor does it have the disgust of overly flawed characters to muddy the story. A must read if you had any respect for Fantasy novels.

I look forward to the next book.

Only one part of the story stuck out as simply annoying, nearly unrelatable. Even when it was conquered, it was made you feel cheated. I really can't get into what it was without spoiling a major part of a characters development, but it will stand out. I rolled my eyes enough times on how long the writer dragged it out to the point it nearly made it insufferable. With this issue resolved... At least I hope... Book 2 will be an even more sweeping Fantasy.

who ever edited the Audio track needs to lose their job. the performance of the reader was good enough.

Characters were good, if not a bit clumsy in their development, with Kim having the best out of all.

The World Building felt to vague at some points and like the Characters... a bit clumsy in construction.

The back story had a similar concept to the Pillars of Reality Series by Jack Campbell.

The story itself was nothing like Pillars of Reality. Where Campbell berate you with one super tense scene and near impossible escape after another... Lynn and Kim have a far less dangerous and deadly adventure feeling almost like an innocent F/F teen novel... well almost... A fun story that however didn't have me looking for more.... Interesting but not unforgettable.

With 1/4 the book a nearly word for word retelling of the story, minus musical numbers, it left you twiddling your thumbs. When the Point of Divergence hits the Butterfly Effect is quick and effective.

The writer totally blows off one character giving no real reason, than claiming oh, I killed it off... It was pointless and lazy. The other character that makes a brief appearance and is killed off gave us nothing... You gave me no reason to care when it got injured, when it was tortured, and used to just be a add-on to some minions... You can't play on the feelings I have for it from the movie writer... This book gave me no reason to care.

The story needed a lot of Original Characters to keep the plot rolling which is fine, but some were good, some were unimaginative. A rule in alternate story writing should be, Original Characters should not be the ones making story altering decision, and actions. The writer broke this rule big time at the end and made me simply scratch my head saying, wait I thought this story was about Aladdin.

For a Young Adult book it was fine. Disney played it safe really when they picked the writer and story style. The second book in the Twisted Tales Series, Once Upon a Dream, does take a character Aurora one who really doesn't have a part in her own movie and really tackles her life Inception Style... It is better then this book, but has plenty of its own issues.
