Story
From the legendary actor and best-selling author: a novel about the making of a star-studded, multimillion-dollar superhero action film...and the humble comic books that inspired it. Funny, touching, and wonderfully thought-provoking, while also capturing the changes in America and American culture since World War II.

The perfect audio book experience for me

I loved this book. It’s hard for me to imagine reading instead of listening to it since the voice of Tom Hanks was such an integral part of the experience. Vivid characters and a story that pulls you along in a deceptively casual way.

Enjoyable

Not Stanford’s best, but enjoyable. I found the narrator to be a little distracting - overly dramatic with a “…just the facts, Ma’am” style that seemed a little forced. But I settled into it after awhile. The story started a little slow but picked up the pace at the end and overall was entertaining and kept my attention.

The host of CNN Tonight with Don Lemon is more popular than ever. As America’s only Black prime-time anchor, Lemon and his daily monologues on racism and antiracism, on the failures of the Trump administration and of so many of our leaders, and on America’s systemic flaws speak for his millions of fans. Now, in an urgent, deeply personal, riveting plea, he shows us all how deep our problems lie, and what we can do to begin to fix them.

This is a wonderful book and great for the Audible format. I was struck by the vivid, dramatic language, artfully written and performed. Historic details and stories are interwoven with personal experiences and commentaries to build a stark and powerful picture of how we have become the country we are. As a white person, I appreciate the expression of hope, tempered with realism, that it is possible for our collective humanity to create a better today and tomorrow by understanding and accepting out past.

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.
