Story
It's the end of the world, but Reg won't mind the peace and quiet - after all, he's always lived a solitary life. And his happy-go-lucky dog, Lineker, is ecstatic to spend more time with his beloved owner. Together, they plan to wait out the impending doom in their second-floor apartment, hiding themselves away from the riots outside. But when an abandoned orphan shows up in the stairwell of their building, Reg and Lineker must leave their place of safety and accompany her into the ruins of a fallen city.

Absolutely phenomenal book.
I'm in awe. It was brutal and beautiful, much like life.
Narration was on point as well.

I'm transfixed.

I came across the free novella "The Hospital' after my dad passed in March. I've always been an apocalyptic 'zombie' genre girl.
Even wrote a bit back in the early Aughts. I'd steered away from it though, too much of the repetive.
Immediately, I was pulled back in by Keith C. Blackmore.
Perhaps it was because 'Gus' reminded me of my oldest brother? Perhaps it was reminiscing on my own loss.? Perhaps it was the sh*t-show that is 2020? perhaps I was living vicariously through the badassery of Collie?
Either way...
I'm a fan.
The writing is both extremely descriptive and yet still relatable.
There is so much DEPTH and humanity, or lack of, within the characters.
I'm SO glad I started this series.
R.C. Bray is ALWAYS on point with narration, so that's an added bonus.
He brings a voice to such a visual story.
Highly recommend.

Story
Thomas Fool is an Information Man, an investigator tasked with cataloging and filing reports on the endless stream of violence and brutality that flows through Hell. His job holds no reward or satisfaction, because Hell has rules but no justice. Each new crime is stamped "Do Not Investigate" and dutifully filed away in the depths of the Bureaucracy. But when an important political delegation arrives and a human is found murdered in a horrific manner - extravagant even by Hell's standards - everything changes.

When best-selling horror author Sam McGarver is invited to spend Halloween night in one of the country's most infamous haunted houses, he reluctantly agrees. At least he won't be alone; joining him are three other masters of the macabre, writers who have helped shape modern horror. But what begins as a simple publicity stunt will become a fight for survival. The entity they have awakened will follow them, torment them, threatening to make them a part of the bloody legacy of Kill Creek.

Absolutely incredible, couldn't seem to get enough. Performance was on point, as well. Easily one of the better stories I've had the pleasure of enjoying in a long time. The homage paid through fictional characters gave the book an engrossing quality.
Looking forward to much more by Scott Thomas...
