I heard Jesse Itzler on the Joe Rogan podcast and selected this audiobook on a whim. It was laugh-out-loud funny! Very entertaining to listen to while I was doing things around the house. Now I’m recommending it to family too.

The antidote to mid-life crisis

Big love for this book! In fact I'm going to start listening to it all over again tomorrow. The book was sitting in my library forever and I wasn't interested in listening- partly because I thought the title was corny and partly because I was bored by the idea of another self-help book. For some reason I started listening a couple days ago and the timing was perfect. Liz became my life raft in a sea of work stress, fear and worry. Each morning and evening her calm gentle voice threw nuggets of wisdom my way. And she shared humorous anecdotes that helped defuse the sense of desperation. Now I'm feeling hopeful and inspired again. Thank you!

Story
In 2008, Isabelle - a self-made 30-something Wall Street star - appears to have it all: an Upper West Side apartment, three healthy children, a handsome husband, and a high-powered job. But her reality is something else. Her trading-desk work environment resembles a 1980s frat party, her husband feels employment is beneath him, and the bulk of childcare and homecare still falls in Belle's already full lap.

Funny and true

A fun plot-driven story. And everything Belle describes is true: the fraternity atmosphere, infidelity and power. It's an entertaining peek at inside peek at what it's like to be a woman in Wall Street. Listen to the book before the movie comes out!

Detective Jenna Murphy comes to the Hamptons to solve a murder - but what she finds is more deadly than she could ever imagine. No. 7 Ocean Drive is a gorgeous, multi-million-dollar beachfront estate in the Hamptons, where money and privilege know no bounds. But its beautiful gothic exterior hides a horrific past: It was the scene of a series of depraved killings that have never been solved. Neglected, empty, and rumored to be cursed, it's known as the Murder House, and locals keep their distance.

fun book for a road trip

We listened to "Murder House" while on a road trip and it was a good ride. Hearing both the female and male narrators made the story more interesting. Some elements were predictable but it was fun trying to guess "who did it."

The one to beat
Reviewed: 03-20-16
This book has become the new one to beat. The narrator is PERFECT for the character. The writing is excellent and the story is engaging. I'm always looking for good page-turning mysteries and The Life We Bury is way above the rest. I'm going to be hard pressed to find another one that is just as good on every level. Definitely can imagine it becoming a movie.
