Sizzle?

LOL. The Church Lady must have rated this PNR as 'sizzle'! It's a good book though, and transitional for the series. Amelia begins to recognize her hidden powers and she and Devlin arrive at their turning point.

Reading this book ...

...sounded like a good idea at the time. This should have been a terrific book. It wasn't. I'd never read this author & won't be reading him again. Although it started kind of slow, it gained momentum. The first 3/4 of it was really good, building to something maybe 4 star worthy. Then I don't know what Little was thinking, but whatever it was he ruined his own story. The reader will never know what actually happened or why or who was really involved; nor will they care. It's not that I didn't get it, I did. I like quirky stuff like this. I'm left with the impression that he was under the gun to meet his deadline & just ended the book with the draft.

Story
Everyone who lives at 23 Beulah Grove has a secret. If they didn't, they wouldn't be renting rooms in a dodgy old building for cash - no credit check, no lease. It's the kind of place you end up when you you've run out of other options. The six residents mostly keep to themselves, but one unbearably hot summer night, a terrible accident pushes them into an uneasy alliance. What they don't know is that one of them is a killer. He's already chosen his next victim, and he'll do anything to protect his secret.

Story
Most of the vast audience attracted to the subject of Dracula know him only in his fictional, one-dimensional form: vampire. Yet the truth behind the historical character - voevode, warlord - of 15th C. Romania is at least as equally fascinating as any contrived account of his supernatural persona. Vlad Dracula faithfully follows his life story as hostage, fugitive, prince, and prisoner, as well as his legend.

Historical fiction done well!
Reviewed: 05-23-16
This is some really good historical fiction based on one of my favorite historical characters. The story woven by Augustyn is excellent and the end is great! The small nod to the popular legend of Vlad's vampirism is twisted just right. So why didn't I give it 4 or 5 stars? Vlad lost at least 1 star because this is the audio edition so of course the narration counts a lot toward ratings. Guardabascio did on ok job but his style, for me at least, didn't compliment the author's work. You will enjoy this book if (like me) you like well researched historical fiction and are intrigued by Vlad Dracula: The Dragon Prince.

Steve is hell's super, its handyman. Being Mr. Fixit to the underworld keeps him and his assistant, Orson Welles (yes, that Orson Welles), pretty busy, since things go on the blink all the time down there. No malfunction has ever created so much inconvenience, though, as the malfunction of hell's escalator, which leads from the pearly gates to the depths of Hades. What's worse: The breakdown appears to be sabotage.

BOOH!
Reviewed: 04-13-16
A really entertaining production, but if you're listening with headphones turn down the volume. BOOH (bat out of hell) has a hell of a shriek. Cain's take on Hell & the inhabitants is just LOL funny. Love the Hells created for some of histories well known characters, like Thelonious Monk doomed to play an out of tune child sized accordion for eternity. So I am now hooked on another book series. My hell will probably be that there are no real books only enticing 'coming soon' trailers.

Straight then sees his life go from "straight and boring" to "gay and fab-you-luss" overnight. He begins to receive VIP treatment in the form of restaurant, hotel, and clothing comps. Story
Born with the power to control minds, hypnotize others, and read thoughts, Ren Lewis is certain of one thing: God made a mistake. No one should be born with so much power. A monster awoke in him the same year he received his gifts. At 10 years old. A prepubescent boy with the ability to control others might merely abuse his powers, but Ren allowed it to corrupt him. And since he can have and do anything he wants, Ren should be happy.

This autobiography of Ren Lewis,a paranormal sociopath, brings us up to date on Ren. This multifaceted man is a Dream Traveler from one of Noffke's paranormal series but there's no need to read the series to appreciate Ren. Awesome stuff. Compelling read. Perfect pairing of book & narrator. New to me author that I definitely will read again. Ren #2 is already on my 'waiting for' list of books.

Really good story. Really good characters. Really good Lanyon. I can only gave the audio 3 stars because the narrator made it hard to follow. He didn't even come close to doing Lanyon's work justice. The Kindle edition gets the full 5 starts. Fair play, the 2nd in the trilogy, has a different narrator & is definitely worth the credit!

Story
The Cajun dive in the middle of the godforsaken swamps wasn't exactly Trap Dawkins' idea of fun. But the GhostWalker wasn't there for a good time. He was looking for her. Cayenne. It's where she found her victims. Poor suckers. Then again, who wouldn't want to leave a place like this with a woman like her? It's not Cayenne's fault. Locked up, experimented on, and never knowing kindness, she was bred this way - with a heart of pure venom. Trap understands her.

Trap is the least likable hero so far. No charm.
Cayenne is the least likable heroine so far. No personality.
Spider Game has the least amount of action/adventure of the series.
But I just couldn't care about those things because the sex was good, there was lots of it, and the twists in the story line set up an interesting direction of good guy v bad guy. As usual I can't wait for the next one.
