Story
Ageism Unmasked shifts the lens, enabling us to see that we tolerate, and sometimes actively promote, attitudes and behaviors toward differently aged people that we would reject and condemn if applied to any other group. It peels back the layers to expose how cultural norms and unconscious prejudices have seeped into our lives, silently shaping our treatment of others based on their age and our own misconceptions about aging - and about ourselves.

A much-needed corrective on the topic of age bias.

This book demonizes anyone wanting to have a serious conversation about the realities of aging
Reviewed: 11-25-22
The book wants to have its cake and eat it too. It posits that negative stereotypes about aging are false, but then asserts positive stereotypes about what older people have to offer, as true. Older people can either be stereotyped or they can not. It’s not ok just because it happens to be a kind stereotype. Perhaps she means to say that stereotypes tend to be negative towards older folks and we should also recognize that each individual older person has different gifts to offer.
