Story
With decades of hindsight, the peaceful end of the Cold War seems a foregone conclusion. But in the early 1980s, most experts believed the Soviet Union was strong, stable, and would last into the next century. Ronald Reagan entered the White House with no certainty of what would happen next, only an overriding faith in democracy and an abiding belief that Soviet communism—and the threat of nuclear war—must end. The Peacemaker reveals how Reagan’s White House waged the Cold War while managing multiple crises around the globe.

Story
Grammar! For many of us, the word triggers memories of finger-wagging schoolteachers, and of wrestling with the ambiguous and complicated rules of using formal language. But what is grammar? In fact, it's the integral basis of how we speak and write. As such, a refined awareness of grammar opens a world of possibilities for both your pleasure in the English language and your skill in using it, in both speech and the written word.

Brilliant! A Must-Listen: leaves you more educated and less judgmental
Reviewed: 07-13-19
Anne Curzan’s lectures transformed the way I understand the English language as a living entity, evolving before our eyes. This class helped anchor my own usage in a stronger understanding of descriptive and prescriptive rules while comforting (and sometimes discomforting) me with an appreciation of the nuance, flexibility, and judgement available to English speakers and writers. I feel both more educated and less judgmental than prior to listening. Thank you for a brilliant class!
