Louise is a single mom, a secretary, stuck in a modern-day rut. On a rare night out, she meets a man in a bar, and sparks fly. Though he leaves after they kiss, she's thrilled she finally connected with someone. When Louise arrives at work on Monday, she meets her new boss, David. The man from the bar. The very married man from the bar...who says the kiss was a terrible mistake but who still can't keep his eyes off Louise. And then Louise bumps into Adele, who’s new to town and in need of a friend. But she also just happens to be married to David.

At first I was a bit lost, wondering if i had missed something or if my audio skipped a chapter. It almost seemed like i was supposed to know a secret before listening. But eventually, you realize this was totally purposeful, and it all starts to come together, and eventually, the lightbulb comes on and you think... wait... what? NO WAY! There are many of those moments in this book; suspense and surprise to the very end.

Story
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods and the woman who was killed. Since then she's been forgetting everything: where she left the car, if she took her pills, the alarm code, why she ordered a pram when she doesn't have a baby.... What she can't forget is the woman she might have saved, the terrible nagging guilt, the silent calls she's receiving and the feeling that someone's watching her.

At first I wad very excited to listen to this because I had loved 'Behind Closed Doors' by the same author. I can't say I was entirely disappointed as the story was ok and the idea was intriguing. I just feel like it took a long time to get where it was going which I'm sure the author meant to be a slow burn build to an aha moment, that I wasn't all that surprised by.
