Story
Written by an acknowledged master of comedy, this study reflects on the nature of humor and the functions it serves. Why do we laugh? What are we to make of the sheer variety of laughter, from braying and cackling to sniggering and chortling? Is humor subversive, or can it defuse dissent? Can we define wit?

Story
In The End Is Always Near, Dan Carlin looks at questions and historical events that force us to consider what sounds like fantasy; that we might suffer the same fate that all previous eras did. Will our world ever become a ruin for future archaeologists to dig up and explore? The questions themselves are both philosophical and like something out of The Twilight Zone.

good but not perfect

I absolutely love Dan Carlins Hardcore History but for some reason this medium here wasnt that good (the pace wasnt "deep" enough). Also I knew the main points he was going into so nothing new for podcast listeners. Nevertheless, I am happy I listened to the book and I am glad I was able to support the great work he is otherwise doing!

Story
As it was in Anna Karenina, Madame Bovary, and Othello, so it is in life. Most forms of private vice and public evil are kindled and sustained by lies. Acts of adultery and other personal betrayals, financial fraud, government corruption - even murder and genocide - generally require an additional moral defect: a willingness to lie. In Lying, bestselling author and neuroscientist Sam Harris argues that we can radically simplify our lives and improve society by merely telling the truth in situations where others often lie.

copypaste from classics
Reviewed: 07-22-19
Nice performance and voice and the title was promising but the actual content was huge disappointment. There was nothing new - just a copy and paste from classics like 7habbits, Think and grow rich, 4h ww etc. Almost no original work.

Story
From the author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos comes a provocative hypothesis that explores the connection between what modern neuropsychology tells us about the brain and what rituals, myths, and religious stories have long narrated. A cutting-edge work that brings together neuropsychology, cognitive science, and Freudian and Jungian approaches to mythology and narrative, Maps of Meaning presents a rich theory that makes the wisdom and meaning of myth accessible to the critical modern mind.

warning: this is quite complicated book to listen. If you want something easier, listen to his 12 rules for life. But if you do go through the maps of meaning I am sure you will find much deeper view on many things in life...
