Story
The eldest daughter of the town’s blacksmith, Catherine Berg is not thrilled at all about her village's century bride tradition. Competing against other girls for the attention of the count seems a disgusting tradition to her. A year before she and the other women of the town are to be offered up like sacrificial lambs to the count, she begins searching for a way to oust the archaic ritual. But when Count August saves Catherine and the town from the ravages of a band of marauding vampires, Catherine begins to finally understand the meaning behind the ritual.

Strong Lead Female Character
Reviewed: 05-16-20
I love books where the lead female character is strong mentally and emotionally, and this book delivers on that.
The story is and interesting take on Vampires and I enjoyed listening to it.
The narration was well done, good character voices and overall easy to listen to.

Great Series, Great Book
Reviewed: 05-16-20
I'm really enjoying this series and this book is the best so far.
Beautifully written it's impossible not to care about Addie and want everything to work out for her. There are some great surprises in this story that make it a lot of fun to listen to.
Meghan does an excellent job with the narration, particularly the character voices. She is one of my favorite narrators and this book shows why.

Fantasy combined with Reverse Harem
Reviewed: 05-16-20
I love both fantasy and reverse harem so It's great to find a book that combines both. The story has potential but I felt like it would benefit from some more development and possible should have been a bit longer. Overall enjoyable but not a book I'll listen to again.
The narrator was interesting, decent character voices and an active style for the overall delivery.

The premise of this book brings a touch of horror, who want's to think about having their memory tampered with?
I've listened to and enjoyed several cyberpunk books, so I had high expectations and this book delivered. Great characters and a gripping story, I was left wanting to press play again and experience it all over again.
Michael did a great job with the character voices and with building tension in all the right places.

This is book 3 in the series but it's the first one that I've listened to. I didn't feel like I was missing anything so this can be listened to as a standalone.
It was a bit cliche at times. The whole relationship seemed a bit forced, they really didn't interact much with each other. I didn't like how Tootsie and Miles came together in the end. While the very end is sweet the rest of the book isn't and the ending feels like it was just shoved on to the end it didn't evolve from the rest of the story.
We didn't learn much about the characters, there was no real development, and there was little to no growth during the book.
The blurb shows a lot of potential but none of it was realised. The book is OK if you're prepared to ignore the glaring plot holes.
The narrator did a good job with the character voices, the delivery was well-paced and nice to listen to

Story
The Tao Te Ching is a Chinese classic text traditionally credited to the 6th-century BC sage Lao Tzu. The text's authorship, date of composition, and date of compilation are debated. The Tao Te Ching, along with the Zhuangzi, is a fundamental text for both philosophical and religious Taoism. It also strongly influenced other schools of Chinese philosophy and religion, including Legalism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, which was largely interpreted through the use of Taoist words and concepts when it was originally introduced to China.

I've heard a lot about this book before reading it, there are several translations into English and there are differences between them. I enjoyed this translation but I have read the others so I can't comment on the differences.
Listening to this book I picked up many gems and I'm sure that reading it again in a few months would allow me to pick-up more so that's exactly want I plan to do. In fact I;'ll probably listen to it every few months for a few years.
The information in this book is timeless, no matter who you are there is something in this book for you.
The narrator did a great job with the tone of the delivery, it was easy to listen to and had a smooth consistent sound.

I loved listening to this book it's incredibly creative, the whole scenario was really intriguing, and the execution of it is very well done.
The book raises many questions about human nature and a propensity to discriminate against anyone who's different. The Children of Nostradamus also called the Nighthawks the next stage in human evolution, they have spectacular abilities and I feared by many despite having no intention of causing harm. As we have seen in the past with discrimination based on colour, sexuality, religion, and nationality, the nighthawks are also discriminated against because of their differences. They are seen as less than human, something to be controlled, something to be studied, and something to be locked away. The response is so realistic that it breaks my heart.
Vividly described, and packed with action, this book hits the ground running and does not stop.
Book one left me wanting more, so book two is definitely on my agenda.
The character voices did a good job of conveying the personality of each character, and the tone and pace of the delivery enhance the moods of the book.

This story had a lovely depth of complexity to it, at first it seems Katerina has been hired to do a simple investigation but it soon becomes apparent that there is far more going on than it first seemed.
The character development is incredibly well done all of the characters feel real and they all have complex thoughts and motivations. I loved Katarina, she's strong, stubborn, and driven, and as things he's up and what information comes to light she's not prepared to walk away even when that's the easy option, even when that's the safe option.
Driven by the complexities of human motivation and human greed this book hold my attention from the first minute to the last.
The narration was well done, the character voices were clear and consistent. The tone and pace of the delivery worked well with the tone of the book.
