Cussing
Reviewed: 08-10-23
Unnecessary amount of cussing. Very distracting from the story. I know many aren’t bothered by cussing, so if you are, you may want to pass.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Since I'm typically doing others things while I listen especially in the beginning I had to keep rewinding because I found myself zoning out and not really following the story. Overall the book wasn't the worse I've listen too but the ending did surprise me.
Would you be willing to try another book from William Landay? Why or why not?
Not sure.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Grover Gardner?
Possibly.

The future looks bright for John and Ruby. John's business is growing, and they're talking about starting a family. But when Ruby receives a life-changing diagnosis, and insurance won't cover the treatment, John steals a customer's identity and files a false claim. The plan works perfectly - until the customer in question contacts John with a startling proposition. If John and Ruby play a little game he's devised, he won't report their fraud. This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I thought that the story line was interesting, but if I knew that there would be so many gory scenes I wouldn't have bought it. I do think that others might enjoy the book.
Any additional comments?
My first time listening to Peter Berkrot and found him easy to listen to.

Disappointed
Reviewed: 05-03-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A different narrator. I've never have read or listen to a book by this author before, so since I'm not familiar with his style, it has been difficult to know what is going on in the story because of the way the narrator is speaking. I have restarted the book several times to see if I can follow the story better, and so far no such luck. I'm about ready to give up and just consider my credit a loss.
How could the performance have been better?
Different narrator.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment so far.

Henry’s gems: "The Cop and the Anthem" and "The Last Leaf", in this holiday collection.
