Prepare to be bombarded with right wing propaganda as the world ends. It is not even a complete story, not that I have any intention of subjecting myself to any more of this. Now I need to shower!

I found this to be a very complete bio of Jack London. Both of his life and his works

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

The narrators helped add life to the even most tedious of the stories.

Do you think The Vampire Archives needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I really don't think I need to hear another vampire story for a very long time.

Any additional comments?

Like most anthologies, this is hit or miss. Some were quite enjoyable, some rather tedious. The older stories were especially trying, probably due to the victorian writing style.

A story of true patriotism. Everyone should read this.

They were needed, says Kairys [a professor at Temple University School of Law], thinking of the burglars and of that era. “There
are certain points in history where a society goes so wrong, and there are certain people who will say, ‘I won’t stand for that ...
I will risk career, life, limb, family, freedom.…And I will take this risk, and I will go and do it.’
“And it certainly is not something that’s over,” says Kairys. People “are going to be called upon again.”

What would have made Castles of Steel better?

Some interesting bits here and there scattered amongst a lot of boring, repetive flotsam

What could Robert K. Massie have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Anyone who really really really REALLY likes hearing about sea battles

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Great for putting you to sleep

While billed as an overview of WWII it focuses mainly on Europe, particularly the Nazis. There is a discussion of Japan at the end. He examines the moral attitudes of the countries involved, not just the political and military leadership, but entire societies, and how these attitudes bent and broke (on both sides) under the weight of total war.Fascinating.

What did you love best about The End?

Fascinating historical account, but the mispronunciations of German terms and names was at times distracting.

What other book might you compare The End to and why?

Richard J Evan's "The Third Reich at War"

Christian Propaganda

Overall
1 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 11-25-08

Be aware, Benjamin Wiker is a fundamentalist christian from the Discovery Institute. The summary of his book: All evils are due to Atheists, if someone does evil and claims to be a christian, he is only pretending and is really an atheist, not matter how pious he acts. All the world's problems will be solved if we simply return to fundamentalist christian (and _only_ christian) fantasies. Bring back the Inquisition.

Now you don't have to buy the book.
