Story
On a cold and snowy night in 1910, Ursula Todd is born to an English banker and his wife. She dies before she can draw her first breath. On that same cold and snowy night, Ursula Todd is born, lets out a lusty wail, and embarks upon a life that will be, to say the least, unusual. For as she grows, she also dies, repeatedly, in a variety of ways, while the young century marches on towards its second cataclysmic world war.

A book that will remain in your heart for ever
Reviewed: 03-16-15
Plainsong captures your heart from the very first word and you remain enthralled until the end. You will love the warm hearted characters and their relationships. Thank goodness there are two more books to read in this trilogy. Eventide and Benediction.Once again the narration is superbly matched to the story.

Absorbing,thoughtful,shameful
The narration is superb, it made the book even more powerful. The story is at time heart rendering, making one wonder how humans can possibly be so cruel. The strength of the main characters is amazing. I re read the book straight away.
