Story
When Gwendy Peterson was twelve, a mysterious stranger named Richard Farris gave her a mysterious box for safekeeping. It offered treats and vintage coins, but it was dangerous. Pushing any of its eight colored buttons promised death and destruction. Years later, the button box reentered Gwendy’s life. A successful novelist and a rising political star, she was once again forced to deal with the temptation the box represented. Now, malignant forces seek to possess the button box, and it is up to Senator Gwendy Peterson to keep it from them at all costs.

This will be the first SK novel I haven’t finished. I’m returning it. So political. If I wanted politics I’d watch the news. I wanted an escape from all the bullshit we are subjected to. Not immersed in it.

Wow just wow but not good

I have no idea how this got a high rating. Worst performance and story I have ever wasted my time listening to. Just wow. You’d have to work hard to write such a trite cliche piece of fiction.

Would you try another book from Preston Child and/or Dan Lawson?
After reading almost everything they have written. I wonder if this was by a ghost writer and they stamped their name on it.
