Story
He was the unlikeliest of presidential candidates - dismissed by opponents as a movie actor, a right-winger trying to undo the work of liberals stretching back to Franklin Roosevelt. Yet Ronald Reagan made it to the White House, taking office in a time of economic turmoil, waning prestige abroad, and a general dampening of the American spirit. Reagan's patriotism, wit, and optimism lifted the nation and brought it through several crises.

Story
Grover Cleveland’s political career—a dizzying journey that saw him rise from obscure lawyer to president of the United States in just three years—was marked by contradictions. A politician of uncharacteristic honesty and principle, he was nevertheless dogged by secrets from his personal life. A believer in limited government, he pushed presidential power to its limits to combat a crippling depression, suppress labor unrest, and resist the forces of American imperialism.

This book provides a comprehensive overview of Cleveland's life, presidency, and internal affairs.
Some components were dry to me, but I found the overall significance fascinating, and some areas quite riveting.
His young wife, ascension to the presidency, and inconspicuous surgery were all fascinating topics.

Story
Within eight turbulent months in 1974 Gerald Ford went from the United States House of Representatives, where he was the minority leader, to the White House as the country's first and only unelected president. His unprecedented rise to power, after Richard Nixon's equally unprecedented fall, has garnered the lion's share of scholarly attention devoted to America's 38th president. But Gerald Ford's (1913-2006) life and career in and out of Washington spanned nearly the entire 20th century.

The unelected chief, a pragmatic leader, and transcendent politician.

Gerald Ford, our only unelected president, aspired to be the majority leader of his party. While this never happened, he certainly outgrew his own ambitions and was catapulted from the Vice Presidency to the Oval Office. With that occurrence, he led the nation to unforgettable moments and competent policy. Making both friends and enemies along the way.
I certainly recommend this book as it fulfills what you’d wish to understand about the President.

Sobel instead exposes the real Coolidge, whose legacy as the most Jeffersonian of all twentieth-century presidents still reverberates today. Sobel delves into the record to show how Coolidge cut taxes four times, had a budget surplus every year in office, and cut the national debt by a third in a period of unprecedented economic growth.

A fascinating look at the life of a quiet President. Without Coolidge's tenure, the absurdity of the Harding years would have highlighted additional flaws in the Republican Party and Coolidge was the appropriate President at the appropriate time.
