Story
Rumors have long swirled about the strange kingdom of Eldon. The only thing more frozen than its mountains are the inhabitants themselves. But Princess Celine has never backed away from a challenge, so she eagerly accepts an invitation to visit. Yet the situation in Eldon is even worse than Celine feared. And if the kingdom is to have any hope of freedom or a future, she's going to have to call on new skills and new allies - including the crown prince, Oliver. But against an enemy stronger and colder than ice, all her fire may not be enough.

Annoyingly Coy and glib

Sadly this book read like a B movie rom-com. Could barely read to the end due to it devolving into smug and cavity inducing one-liners.

Story
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

An amazing book on several levels

Being an avid and prolific reader, I’m rarely star-struck, but this book is one that will stay with me. With David Copperfield as its muse, Demon Copperhead addresses similar societal mis-steps with current social, health and political challenges at the forefront. Both my heart and my head embraced the characters and issues presented in its pages.
Thank you Barbara Kingsolver.
