This is the first book I've listened to by Catherine Ryan Hyde and I was pleasantly surprised. I loved Bea, as bitter as she was, I can understand how she came to be so after what happened to her. Any senior citizen could have been duped as she was, and would be just one phone call away from the same fate as she. Allie was a little less believable as the teenager stranded by her parents as she was. Seems like she did almost as much growing up as Bea did at the end. Loved the narrators and enjoyed the pace of the book. I'm looking at more from this author for future purchases.

While the subject matter was interesting in the beginning, the jumping back and forth of characters got monotonous. The author seemed as if she was trying to extend the book by having many, many needless details and conversations between the characters. The ending, on the other hand, was quite abrupt and disappointing.
