Story
Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.

Not my favorite

This had high ratings but I’m not sure why… it was short, not overly mysterious or funny or dramatic… kinda felt like someone read me a short story… a story that should have been longer and better developed. Acting was so-so

Short and sweet

I liked it but way too short and unable to play on repeat. I would suggest getting an album through music service rather than audiobooks.

Decent

This is a decent book. It was nice that the kindle version was part of kindle unlimited, too. In general the writing was good. It was lacking a little romantic tension and seemed a bit of an afterthought at the end. That being said, I liked the story... and I don’t want to be overly critical as I am a big Jane Austen fan and it’s very hard to find a true regency romance anywhere near her quality. I do enjoy books that leave more to the imagination and I’m a bit of a prude so that is even harder to find in a contemporary regency era book. So, if you’re bored, I’d say give it a whirl. It was easy to listen to while I did other things and I liked the narrator. Great English accent that wasn’t distracting. It added to the novel, for sure.
