Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

NEARLY GOT LOST ON MY HIKE, I LOVED IT SO MUCH!

Enjoyed this book so much and got lost in the story that I just kept walking and walking and nearly forgot where I was! THANKS JONATHAN!!! :) You can't help but cheer for him on this tough journey of growing up such a unique individual. It's so entertaining and his narration is hilarious, of course. I'll give it a 10 for overall gymnastic performance floor routine - that'll make more sense after you read the book. Enjoy!

What did you love best about Glory over Everything?
The voice performances were exceptional, the story kept me going, I couldn't wait to get in the car and enjoy the story. I love how Kathleen Grissom's books bring unexpected aspects of pre-civil war to life, like the burdens carried by mixed race people. So heartbreaking.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved them all of course, I felt the closest to Mr Burton, but I couldn't help but fall in love with Pan.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
I could imagine all of them on a Broadway stage.

Flowery, Tedious, Annoyingly narrated
Reviewed: 12-18-15
What would have made The Marriage of Opposites better?
I agree with another poster that the main narrator was insufferable and off-putting. Her tone of voice was so affected that it really detracted from my sympathy for the characters.
What do you think your next listen will be?
The Perfume Collector, Something from David Sedaris
Any additional comments?
This book takes forever to wade through, the story is too flowery and takes itself way to seriously. When I realized that it was based on the real life painter Camille Pissarro it made it more engaging, but by that point it was too late.
