Story
The Ashes cricket series, played out between England and Australia, is the oldest and arguably the most keenly contested rivalry in international sport. Yet the majority of the first representative Australian cricket team to tour England in 1878 in fact regarded themselves as Englishmen. In May of that year, the SS City of Berlin docked at Liverpool, and the Australians stepped onto English ground to begin the inaugural first-class cricket tour of England by a representative overseas team.

Where does The Strangers Who Came Home rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Possibly top 5. It's not my greatest purchase due to its specificity but it's superb!
What other book might you compare The Strangers Who Came Home to and why?
Perhaps "The Pixar Touch". James Lilywhite, although English and a rival, played an integral part in bringing the Australian team to England and to what would be legendary prominence. In "The Pixar Touch", The team behind Pixar at one point included a founder of rival animation company "Dreamworks", Jeffrey Katzenberg, but in the same way this elevated Pixar as they battled Dreamworks for Animation supremacy as The Australians battled English teams for respect towards Australian cricket.
Which character – as performed by Jonathan Coote – was your favorite?
Probably Fred "the demon" Spotheff(spellcheck) because the thought of such a vicious presence in a "gentleman's sport" was fascinating and exciting to me.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, the description of the major injuries suffered by the Australians in-match made me cringe. That was mindboggling.

Story
This audiobook examines the meteoric rise of Sweden as the pre-eminent military power in Europe during the Thirty Years War during the 1600s, and then follows its line of warrior kings into the next century until the Swedes finally meet their demise, in an overreach into the vastness of Russia. A small Scandinavian nation, with at most one and a half million people and scant internal resources of its own, there was small logic to how Sweden could become the dominant power on the Continent.

A surprising mirror image of modern Sweden
Reviewed: 11-18-16
What made the experience of listening to A Warrior Dynasty the most enjoyable?
The fact that I am Swedish but I felt detached from Swedish military history in particular. This was a nice partial filler of that void.
What did you like best about this story?
All the conflicts and the actual success and reverance of Swedish Kings and Generals.
Which character – as performed by Mark Ashby – was your favorite?
Noone in particular.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When I realized the impact of the Carnage in Stockholm and the extent of the Danish-Swedish conflict.

Story
It's what he was raised to do. Most parents would hide or destroy any evidence so clearly demonstrating their child's failures, but-lucky for us-Greg Fitzsimmons's family has preserved each mistake in its original envelope like a trophy in a case, lest he ever forget where he came from.

What an incredible execution

What made the experience of listening to Dear Mrs. Fitzsimmons (The Audiobook) the most enjoyable?
The fact that they had the forethought to save all notes and letters from Greg's school years and the fact that they had some famous friends of Greg to read them for the audiobook. It was great!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Greg's father. You get to see his brightest and darkest sides throughout this piece. It was terrifying yet gripping and tantalizing.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
Adam Carolla reading a notice from one of Greg's teachers.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. It is not very long and it made a long solo camping trip very enjoyable.
