As ever, there is never enough time to learn all that should be known. This book took me a little further.

Some of the performance was alright, But his attempted accents were painful to listen to or amateurish and distasteful.

For Sharon Strong, the decade from sixty-five, traditionally labeled “retirement”, contains more discovery, challenge and change than many people experience over a lifetime. Pushing past boundaries of many kinds to reach ultimate experiences, this artist and psychologist embraces life in all its manifestations with limitless, courage and compassion. Full of adventure and insight, Burning Woman will keep smoldering in my mind for a long time to come.

It’s enormously heartening to hear this story, direct from Michelle O, in her warm, inimitable voice.
Her balance, good sense, compassion, and strong sense of self (the opposite of egotism) give me faith in the human race. Though she plays it down, her brilliance always shines. “Becoming” feels like a warm candle that lights the way and keeps optimism alive.

No one should imagine a the story of a thousand year history is easily told or understood. If it was possible to tell the history of an evolving people as a linear tale, it would be a fantasy telling more about the historian's opinions that the complex realities of the people he or she is writing about.
