left me wanting more

Overall
4 out of 5 stars

Very good information here for those interested in the mind/body connection. The author reads alternately with a woman narrator, which I found really helped the pacing of this book. I will agree with another reviewer who longed for a bit more content - this is rather short. Including some of the healing meditations would have added some valuable content and bumped up the review to a 5 star.

Rush Hour Italian Audiobook By Howard Beckerman cover art

Don't waste your time

This is an audio musical play with language lessons. Since I love musicals, I thought this would be a fun way to learn Italian. Unfortunately, the lessons zip by way too quickly...and the songs get annoying. Ultimately, it's frustrating because you can't really learn in the car without referring to the manual that you must download. About the only way this would be useful is if you already learned the language and wanted a refresher.

Pimsleur Quick and Simple Italian for English Speakers Audiobook By Dr. Paul Pimsleur cover art

Learn on the Go

Overall
4 out of 5 stars

We bought this for a trip to Italy, and I think it did a good job of teaching us the basics. There's no book included, which was great for learning in the car, but occasionally, I would have to do a Google search at home to figure out what consonant they were going for. Perhaps a "b as in boy" would help now and then. And although we learned greetings and eating, there were some essentials missing, like buying and finding a bathroom. It's great, though, for being clear, going slow enough to keep up, and having enough repetition so that you could really retain information. If you're deciding between this and Rush Hour...buy this hands down. I bought both and can't even bear to listen to the silly singing and too-fast lessons on Rush Hour Italian....Pimsleur is the far better choice.

Rush Hour Spanish Audiobook By Howard Beckerman cover art

Download the guide

This is a fun way to learn some basic conversational Spanish, but you'll have to download the guide to understand exactly what they are saying. M sounds like N for example. You will also have to listen to it multiple times to learn everything, but with the music, that's fine. You won't learn grammar and tenses, and how to construct your own sentences, but for a crash course that's fun to listen to in your car, or on your iPod, I would recommend it.
