Story
It was a day like any other. Except it was our last.... It’s on this day that Pounce discovers that he is, in fact, disposable. Pounce, a styilsh "nannybot" fashioned in the shape of a plush anthropomorphic tiger, has just found a box in the attic. His box. The box he'd arrived in when he was purchased years earlier, and the box in which he'll be discarded when his human charge, eight-year-old Ezra Reinhart, no longer needs a nanny. As Pounce ponders his suddenly uncertain future, the pieces are falling into place for a robot revolution that will eradicate humankind.

What a great book

I liked "Sea of Rust" and loved "Day Zero." Both books occur within the same timeline and if you combine them it would make an amazing television series! Please someone pick this up and make it!

Story
Guy is about to finish writing his breakthrough online article. He overheard the story by chance in a pub and it’s guaranteed to go viral - all he needs to do is persuade the World’s Unluckiest Man to talk to him. His best friend Larry’s quest for killer clickbait material has led him to a recently appeared shanty town in Glasgow, where he finds some kind of urban voodoo cult. Ex-cop Sam has already come face-to-face with the terrifying force behind both these phenomena, but he’s been trying to put it out of his mind.

Smithered is always unpredictable

This is the third book of Luke Smitherd's that I have listened to. The other two being the Stone Man series. I listen to a lot of books, but this is an author that keeps me listening intently as I can never predict where the story is going. Also I sometimes listen to audiobooks on a faster speed to get through them faster, but I don't do that with his books. Where the heck does he get these ideas? Great stories and characters! I am looking forward to his next book.

Story
On a quiet seafront in the middle of the afternoon the sun sets, the clouds part and something like a pale, elongated human figure appears on the horizon. For Maria, watching from the beach, it’s proof that she should never have dared to return. Five years earlier, her life shattered by the arrival of the Stone Man, she’d fled the country. But now she can’t escape: suddenly, there are news reports of ‘Empty Men’ materialising all around the coast, and the roads are gridlocked. The Empty Men are killers, and they’re heading inland.

So good

The author really tells a good story. Adding to the first book with necessity, not redundancy. Great new characters, surprises, and well thought out connecting plot points. More please.

Amazing narration, interesting story

I've been a fan of Gillian Anderson since I saw her in "The Fall." The story in "A Vision of Fire" kept my interest all the way through and I am looking forward to parts 2 and 3. Gillian's performance - from the pitch perfect accents to her mesmerizing, articulate voice - is the real gem here!
