Story
It was surreal returning to work after a five-month enforced sabbatical following the suspicious death of my best friend Livvy at a work event. I was grateful for the time away to grieve and had slotted straight back in work but a surprise awaited my return. Amanda Dowd, Livvy’s replacement, was entrenched as my new flatmate in the company apartment. Something didn’t feel right, I felt on edge. But everyone seemed to love her. Even my ex-Jayden was blinded by her outgoing personality and model looks. When I began to receive calls, photos and presents supposedly from Livvy, I became spooked.

I love the narration …she’s really good at making different characters sound just who they are! The storyline was really good. However, the characters were a little boring.

Just OK not the greatest of her books

I really like KL Slater books and I really like some of the other narrators better. I don’t feel there was much character development and really a lot of the story was dull and predictable.

Story
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

Gripping from the start!

Another great KL Slater book. I listened to this as an audiobook and it was fantastic! I could picture each character vividly. Slater is really good at character development. It was gripping from start to finish. I listened to a lot of it while driving in my car. It was so great and captivating I never minded being stuck in traffic! The narrator, Lucy Price-Lewis is phenomenal! Her ability to draw you in with her voice is remarkable. She is one of the best narrators with the ability to change her voice skillfully from one character to the next. Liar is an excellent thriller and I can’t wait to read more by this talented author.

This was definitely my favorite book by KL Slater, so far. I have already read about 10 of her books. I am really confused by some of the other reviews …like are they reading a different book than I am? This was an amazing story and an excellent plot. The way in which she describes all the different characters is phenomenal! Each description is very precise and believable. I could literally picture each character, hear their voices, smell their perfume… etc.
I really liked this story and I was truly sad when it came to an end.

I really enjoyed The Girl She Wanted.
The way the characters are woven intricately into each others lives is quite masterful. I had this title on my phone, so every time I would get in my car it would play(through Bluetooth on my car sound system) another chapter. I found myself so enthralled with this book, that when I would reach my destination and I couldn’t get out of the car! I would have to stay and listen until I found out what was happening next!

Story
When single mother Darcy’s son falls from a rope bridge at a local playground, life stands still. She clutches his small, limp body, frozen, until a pair of strong hands push her aside, and she watches as George, a local doctor, saves her son’s life. George, with his twinkling hazel eyes, easy charm and lack of wedding band is almost too good to be true, but coffee becomes lunch, lunch becomes dinner, and soon they can’t go an evening without seeing each other.

I have read a lot of books or rather listened to a lot of books by KL Slater. Single is up there with a few of my favorites. I found the characters really well developed and quite believable. There were a lot of great surprises and as always wonderful descriptions. I find Lucy Price-Lewis a very good narrator. I love the way she is able to change her voice from a five-year-old little girl to an 80 year old man. She is very talented. I would’ve liked a little more drama and suspense but overall I really enjoyed this book.
