Kind of annoying
Reviewed: 01-19-22
I listened to the whole thing to find out what happened, but the whole time I found myself annoyed by the whiny melodramatic tone of both the story and the performance.

Story
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

Excellent performance

This is an entertaining story with a unique and likeable narrator. But what really made it for me was the performance. Lauren Ambrose disappeared into the characters and brought the story to life. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Delightful!

Oh my gosh! This was just delightful! Especially because I also grew up in a conservative religious tradition. Her perspectives are so fresh and touching.
