Story
Smedley Butler was the most celebrated warfighter of his time. Best-selling books were written about him. Hollywood adored him. Wherever the flag went, “The Fighting Quaker” went - serving in nearly every major overseas conflict from the Spanish War of 1898 until the eve of World War II.

Well told from a point of view

Billed as a biography, this book at its core is an attempt to link all American troubles as the result of capitalist greed. I would recommend this book as a great starting place in research of Butler's life and career. Please research beyond this book though as this is written in a strictly leftist view. It generally attempts to link the attack on the Capitol of January the 6th with coups and attempted coups in America and abroad. One question must be asked at such accusations. Who is Ray Epps?

Based on a decade of research and on interviews with many of Mao's close circle in China who have never talked before, and with virtually everyone outside China who had significant dealings with him, this is the most authoritative biography of Mao ever written.

When Norm Macdonald, one of the greatest stand-up comics of all time, was approached to write a celebrity memoir, he flatly refused, calling the genre “one step below instruction manuals.” Norm then promptly took a two-year hiatus from stand-up comedy to live on a farm in northern Canada. When he emerged he had under his arm a manuscript, a genre-smashing book about comedy, tragedy, love, loss, war, and redemption. When asked if this was the celebrity memoir, Norm replied, “Call it anything you damn like.”

Enlightening to the last. Incredibly long yet worth every second of your time! The first hand accounts given and documentation are very needed to believe such an outlandish history.
We may not want to believe that it happened or can happen again, but as history shows us over and over again, what we want is rarely what happens.
I would recommend the study of this text to anyone seeking to gain knowledge on any event in conjunction with World War 2.
