Story
When a mysterious, gorgeous woman whisks her onto the dance floor at her father's masquerade ball, Lucy is thrilled to break the shackles of her privileged but purposeless life. But when the same woman kidnaps her and whisks her to the hideout of the rebels fighting to topple the regime she's set to inherit, Lucy isn't thrilled to be actually shackled as a prisoner. She is forced to accompany her abductor—a laconic, rigid assassin named Taylor—across the war-torn regions of the former United States as Taylor carries out perilous assassinations and leads the growing rebel army.

Don't pass up, it's long and a slow burn but completely worth it. And even funny too. Very much enjoyed!

great beginning but rushed ending

the book should have ended after the return back to nassau.. the second part should have either been longer or a separate story. it's still a good story but wish there would have been more and not so rushed. overall, still a good read and enjoyed it.

Slinging hotdogs may not be the most glorious side gig, but hey, if it paid for college, that’s all Emma could ask for. And let’s be real, of all the crowds in the world, what were the odds that Comic-Con would get Portalled next? Emma really should’ve known better. Once again, the universe conspires against her, and now she’s stuck in a world where the laws of physics don’t seem to apply and even the grass is trying to kill her. She better pay close heed to the artificial intelligence guiding her and make some new friends fast, because out here, it’s thrive or die.

The first half of the book wS extremely hard for me to get through, I realized it's important to understand everything but man I was bored! once other people got involved then the book picked up and I enjoyed it. It's no prize winner but it is a good read for in-between books.

Story
Lucinda Hamilton settles down in sleepy Reverie, South Carolina, because she's running from the troubles of her past. But when her dangerous ex-husband evades law enforcement, she fears that no amount of running will ever make her safe again. Two women are determined to keep Lucinda's past at bay - the mysterious young nurse living on the other side of Lucinda's duplex, who won't even tell Lucinda her name, and Ardie Brown, an ex-marine who's recently moved back to Reverie herself. It's hard for Lucinda to trust either one; it's even harder to admit that she's falling for both of them.

The only book that made me just think when it ended. not about the book itself but my life, my life growing up in the south. I know pee tend to connect with certain books but I personally never have, until now. and again not with the actual story but the feeling within the story. everyone should give this book a chance but if you are from the south I think you will understand what I just said more.
