So many absolutely brilliant stories. Yes, in some stories, the dominant presence of men and the constant referring to grown women as girls is a bit irritating. But that's inevitable in any older literature. (Still plenty of it today.) On the other hand, the stories are so original, imaginative, and captivating. Referring. Exceptional.

I normally just leave stars but I so dislike this book that I had to say something. There's so much going on, but we don't really know why.

It's 's as if a book were written where there's a war, but the war is never mentioned. So all these things happening, people are running around all over the place, danger, manipulation, etc. – but you never really understand why!

Could've been a decent story. Way too much preoccupation with "romance", in what I imagine to be a Harlequin style. Way too much overreaction, whining, and petulance.

There is a certain kind of book with complexity that seems like unnecessary padding. This book is NOT that. This complexity is that of multiple interlocking threads, which keep the interest and are thought-provoking. I was pretty much always engaged, interested and wondering what was going to happen. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

A big NO for me on "virtual voice". Nowhere close to the variation and appropriate performance, moment by moment, that a human can give.

It will have to improve A LOT for me to listen to a book done in this way.

Not my usual genre,, but something grabbed my attention. I've now listened to the whole series. Rich detail… But not filler detail as with many modern novels. Good characters. Good stories.

I tried for an hour and a quarter, but I can't take anymore. Maybe it gets better, but I'm not willing to spend any more of my time to find out.

If he says 'um' or 'uh' one more time, or whines, or says/does something stupid, I'm going to punch him in the nose.

I don't usually like magic or very long books, or LitRPG. But there was something in the description that made me give this one a try – and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Earlier in the book, I thought I would give it a 5 for the good story. But the flowery metaphors became more and more overdone, irrelevant and tiresome. So minus two, and I won't be reading anything else by this author.
