Story
Mysterious gateways are appearing throughout the universe, bridging violent civilizations, leading to war, and sowing chaos. While some species succumb to the pandemonium, the Chut’un forge an unholy symbiotic relationship—The Order—with red Europhids, a vast hive intelligence populating the universe’s far reaches. Desiring structure and fearing the unknown, they cull everything opposed to their plan, including the Europhids’ blue counterparts, carrying out a galactic genocide until only one blue Europhid remains...inside Moses Montgomery, a.k.a. "Dark Horse".

Excellent one for the series, and some music not expected
Reviewed: 07-14-22
You really should check out the books earlier in the series before this one but it’s not required. Some elements will flow better if you do.
As always RC does a fantastic job!! And Jeremy absolutely let his mind wander for some chapters. If you have read any of his stuff you know that’s saying something.
A few times I did have to stop the book and flip over to Pandora for a listen to what music was being referenced. Each time, without fail, the emotional trigger he was pulling got the intended effect!
This would totally be a blockbuster if it went to the big screen.

Story
New York Times and number one Audible.com best-selling author Jeremy Robinson takes listeners on a journey that is not only action-packed, but full of scientific and philosophical intrigue. In his most mind-bending story since Infinite and Alter, Robinson blends genres, belief systems, and bold prose into an unputdownable tale exploring the nature of reality.

Gets you thinking. Strange story line though.
Reviewed: 12-26-21
It’s a little slow to get into this one. I love Jeremy’s writing and am constantly looking forward to another story. I could not figure it out at first and just went with the straight serial killer line for awhile. Then, as you should expect from Mr Robinson, it meanders down an unseen path.
At the end it’s another fun one. This one will keep you thinking for quite a bit afterwards.

Very good 2nd in series
Reviewed: 08-25-20
You really do need to read/listen to the first book or you’ll be lost. Lots of characters to keep up with, but Ray Porter does a great job distinguishing them.
I only gave 4 stars overall because some elements of the story felt a bit contrived to fit the greater plot, plus the cliffhanger ending.
Oh well, it’s a good series and I’ll be getting the 3rd book!

Story
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Fine story but should have been about 10 hours, not 20
Reviewed: 01-07-19
Superfluous throughout. While it was a good storyline, too often there were comments, addendums and other fluff that didn’t add to the story so much as drag it out.
RC Bray is excellent but does need a proper story to tell or else he can begin to drone on. I found I couldn’t listen straight through on this one.

Not as good as books 1 or 2
Reviewed: 11-24-18
Although this book circles back to the original planet from book 1 which we all wanted to hear about, it somehow feels disjointed and is quite sluggish and repetitive at various times.
We see a different side of Skippy for just a moment and then it is shelved, presumably for a future book? Joe on the other hand is less engaging since he is made out to be dumber than before, and willing to take an enormous amount of abuse! Not as fun and clever as previously.
RC Bray keeps us with his wonderful story telling, as usual.
I really “trust” that Craig captures some more of “the awesomeness” in the next book!!

Story
Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

Good story, good narration, weird editing and music
Reviewed: 02-10-18
This is a fun little fable of a tale with wonderfully built characters who learn a bit about themselves along the way. Lenny does a great job albeit with a thicker accent than I am accustomed. Took a few minutes to begin catching all that he said, and I still missed a word here and there. That’s why I only gave four stars here.
What I REALLY disliked was the strange interludes of music at very inappropriate points throughout. At first I thought I didn’t download the whole book and it was buffering or something. But I verified the download, yet the poorly timed interludes popped up again and again. Sometimes almost in the middle of a conversation. Whomever worked in the editing room needs some serious guidance.
Worth it for the story, though, in the end.
