Very meh

Lots on her personal life and the ways her parents didn’t do enough. Very little from the part of her life (as an actor) for which people know her and in which they would be interested. An underwhelming memoir.

Astley offers an engaging and warm performance. This is the RickRolling we all need.

Story
When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a teenager with an all-consuming crush on her costar, Harrison Ford.

Not much story here. Not much to recommend. I skipped a long rambling diary reading in the middle. I had seen this on a recommended memoir list. I cannot imagine why.

Eventually, I like this book because of her story of filming A Year in the Life. Lots of gems there.
The first third almost made me put it back. The fast-talking Schtick felt contrived and as if Graham were performing as Lorelai rather than presenting her story authentically. There were some great moments, but it is also a lot for a while.
