Story
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

Impactful and touching

This book is now one of my absolute favorites. I love how the author ties in her own life with the experiences of her patient’s. The stories are incredibly heartwarming, and I got the chills reading many of the moments described. This book demonstrates how things happen for a reason… even the most mundane or even regretful moments of your life have a purpose. The author narrates her own book and she reads very well. Her voice is sweet and charismatic with great inflection.

Story
Dean Braxton was hospitalized due to kidney stones. The procedure to break down the stones caused an infection which eventually made his heart stop. When Dean died, he was taken to heaven, where he met Jesus, family members, and saw God, the father of creation! He should have been a vegetable or dead, when in fact Dean Braxton's heart had been stopped for 1 hour and 45 minutes. After he came back from heaven, he was instantly healed of 29 medical conditions, and today he is called the Miracle Man, and has written a book of his complete account of heaven in the afterlife.

Great book, but...

I love Dean Braxton and his experience! This book was well written and narrated. However, I did not give it five stars because chapter 20 is incomplete. It just stops abruptly. I'm really bummed because I was very interested in the content. Wish I could get it somehow. I would gladly give it five stars if this was fixed.

Story
Brain research has found that our thoughts and beliefs affect our physical, mental and spiritual health. Mind and body are interrelated, and we are designed for healthy relationships of love and trust. When we understand God as good and loving, we flourish. Unfortunately, many of us have distorted images of God and mostly think of him in fearful, punitive ways. This leads us into unhealthy patterns of self-defeating behaviors and toxic relationships. But our lives can change when God renews our minds with a truer picture of him.

I LOVED this book. It absolutely transformed and changed my view of God and His love for us. I am a sceptic by nature, and have at times felt so distant from a God I wasn't sure I believed in. This book opened my heart and completely convinced me of His love. I wish every single person could/would get this book!
