I listened to this on Audible and at chapter 7 knew I also needed it in paper form to take some notes and reference back to the multiple step-by-step guides Amy provides here. By far one of the most actionable books I’ve read in the last year. Thank you, Amy for writing this.

Peg Brennan hasn't held a sword since she was captured at sea and imprisoned 10 years ago. But as her fingers slide around the hilt of the rapier beside her, she knows that the life she has made for her bastard son in Bath is about to change for the worse - and still she cannot stop herself. What she doesn't know is that a darker threat will soon arrive to drag her back into the blackness that can only exist in a pirate's heart.

A NC native born and raised in the Piedmont, having went to college and living in the beautiful mountains, and now living in rural eastern NC I enjoyed the new stories gave me for familiar places. We regularly spend our summers a boat ride away at Cape Lookout and got married on the Cooper River. I’ll now revisit these places and think of the first settlers and pirates in a different way. Highly recommend if you’ve ever been or want to head east.

Story
Author Lisa Bilyeu grew up in London, where she was always told her dreams of Hollywood were a little too big for a girl. Despite her first love of movie-making, Lisa moved to Los Angeles and became a housewife—for eight frickin’ years! How the heck did that happen? Radical Confidence is the “empowering, transformative, and practical” (Jay Shetty, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Think Like A Monk) story of how Lisa unpaused her life to cofound a company that went from zero to a billion dollars in just five years and became the leader in the world of personal development.

Story
Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

I really enjoyed listening to Jay narrate his book Think Like a Monk. I'm so glad I listened to the audio as opposed to buying and reading the book. I think Jay's smooth, calculated speak added a little something extra to the examples, practices, and stories Jay shares. Definitely a great read if you're looking for a new perspective to the same ol' same ol.

Story
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Listening to this book against the backdrop of the 2020 election, COVID-19, cancelled holiday plans, and so much negativity in my world right now - Matthew's easy speaking ways gave this book life that I know me reading it would not have yielded. If you like Matthew's laid-back conversation style then you'll love the inflections, emphases, guffaws and whooo boys he adds to his life's story. I'm so glad I chose to listen to this as opposed to buying the written copy. Lots of wisdom, lots of good ol' boy stories, stories of pioneering his own way in a manner that easily translates to wherever you find yourself. Thanks for sharing your craft with us Matthew. Loved this book.

Your first book was beyond what I expected and your closing comments of gratitude had me in tears. Bravo.

Story
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.

Dino’s aren’t just for kids
Reviewed: 08-19-19
Just like the into of this audiobook, I had given away my love of dinosaurs for seemingly more mature choice as I grew up. Now with a 4 year old son whose alter ego is a T-Rex I thought this would be a fun listen for both of us. My son wasn’t quite as enthusiastic, but I loved learning so much about dinosaurs of yesterday and today. Thanks for bringing these animals back to life for me.

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

A reminder of how to live into who you are meant to be
Reviewed: 03-10-19
This quick listen teleported me to France and I felt as though I was there watching Marie fight for her dreams. The entire story kept taking me back to fond memories of my grandma who fought to make her way in a male-dominated furniture business, living alone by choice after my grandpa died when my dad was 4 years old. Marie, like my grandma, had a vision of the life they wanted and didn’t let cultural norms or a fear of not belonging keep them from their dreams. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Thank you for bringing Marie alive.
