Story
While Christian faith cannot be reduced to mere superstition, few would deny that Christianity is too easily plagued by superstition. Indeed, many Christian theologians have tried to purify Christianity of magical thinking in favor of genuine piety.

Supernatural = Superstition

Bob Price does an excellent job illustrating the aspects of Christianity based in superstition: prayer, the nature of god, having a “personal relationship”, and others. A must-read for atheists and Christians alike.

Truly Inspirational as a Humble Person and Leader
Reviewed: 05-01-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is a truly inspirational book!! The humility and leadership that Comey demonstrates throughout this autobiography show up on every page. If your opinion about Comey is based on your exposure to political entertainers (these are the people on TV), then you simply don't know what the man is really like.I made the mistake once, in college, of thinking I knew a person based on someone else's opinion rather than my own personal experience. Of course, utilizing opinions of those you trust is typically important. But later I realized that the person I distanced myself from, based on that opinion, was actually very nice. And the opinion I trusted was wrong. Ever since then, for over 30 years now, I primarily rely on my own experiences with people. I use others' opinions as secondary evidence.So do yourself a favor and get to know James Comey through his own words. Set aside any opinions you've heard on TV as they're often very biased. You will be a better person, and if so inclined, a better leader for it.

Story
Originally conceived as a joint presentation between influential thinker and best-selling author Richard Dawkins and former evangelical preacher Dan Barker, this unique book provides an investigation into what may be the most unpleasant character in all fiction. Barker combs through both the Old and New Testaments (as well as 13 different editions of the "Good Book"), presenting powerful evidence for why Scripture shouldn't govern our everyday lives.

God of the OT = Jesus
Reviewed: 07-03-17
Most of us know that the god of the Old Testament is basically terrible. And Barker does a meticulous job of pointing that out. What we often don't realize in our current age of new-and-improved Christianity, one that tries to portray a soft and fluffy Jesus, is that the OT god and Jesus are the same being. Trinitarians in the crowd will shout out, "but they're not the same person." But so what. According to Christians there's only one god, so Jesus gets credit for all the horrific acts that happen before he actually comes on the scene. Sorry Christians. This expose was my favorite part of the book.

Story
Leading New Testament scholar Robert M. Price has taken umbrage at the cavalier manner in which Rev. Lee Strobel has misrepresented the field of Bible scholarship in his book The Case for Christ. Price exposes and refutes Strobel's arguments chapter-by-chapter. In doing so, he has occasion to wipe out the entire field of Christian apologetics as summarized by Strobel. This book is a must-read for anyone bewildered by the various books published by Rev. Strobel.

Eviscerates Apologetics with a Smile
Reviewed: 01-23-17
Whether or not you've read The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, Price's rebuttal is worth your time. Point by point he exposes the weaknesses (lies) of evangelical Christian apologetics. And he further summarizes the strengths of critical biblical scholarship. As a bonus, Price has a flair for metaphor that at times is laugh out loud funny! Great listen!
